There is a great planetarium just a short bus ride away. I have been here before on a school trip, but it has been a long time. Monroe and I look at the various exhibits about our solar system, space travel and the world's most impressive telescopes. Monroe really geeks out on the telescopes! See the telescope exhibit.
Finally, we get to go to the best part of the planetarium -- the theater! We book tickets for three back-to-back shows. First, we watch a documentary about the different types of stars, the constellations and the planets of our solar system. Then, we watch a 3D movie where it feels like we are soaring through space. Watch out for that shooting star! The grand finale is a laser light show set to music. Who knew the planetarium could be so much fun!
It is dark outside by the time we leave the planetarium. I look to the sky to try to find some of the constellations we learned about, but the city lights make it impossible to see more than a couple of stars. Oh well, I guess I need to save the stargazing for the mountains.
