Larry cannot understand why city workers would trap raccoons. Maybe the cat is mistaken. Maybe the cat just doesn't want to share her dinners with Larry anymore. He thanks the cat for the meal and leaves to find his raccoon friends.
Larry walks over to an abandoned building where his raccoon friends sometimes spend the day. There are no raccoons there. He goes to the junkyard and looks in one car after another. There are no raccoons. He decides to go back to the abandoned house where he sleeps.
On the way home, he smells something delicious. He follows the scent and finds a plate of fruit sitting on the ground, just waiting to be eaten. Yum!
Just as he picks up some grapes, a door slams and a latch clicks. He is trapped in a cage!
Larry calls for help, but no one comes. After a while he falls asleep. He wakes to a smiling man looking in the cage. The man says he is taking Larry back to where he belongs. Larry hopes that means back to the abandoned house. The man carries the cage with the raccoon to his van and puts him inside. Larry has never ridden in a car before. He can’t see where he is going and is scared.
A short while later, the man parks the van and takes the cage holding Larry outside. He puts the cage on the ground and opens the cage door. The poor raccoon runs out of the cage as fast and as far as he can. When he is certain he is not being chased, Larry stops running and looks around. He is no longer in the city.
